Farewell to Herman Witmans and Leo Jessen

V.O. extends its heartfelt thanks to Herman Witmans and Leo Jessen for their many years of service and wishes them every happiness and good health in the future.

As of 30 April, partners Herman Witmans and Leo Jessen have retired. This marked the end of impressive careers in which they dedicated themselves with great commitment for 36 and 34 years respectively to clients, colleagues, and the development of the patent attorney profession.

Throughout their careers, they guided countless innovations, ranging from everyday consumer products to complex building structures. They also successfully represented clients in a large number of patent litigation cases. Their work was frequently praised by the renowned IP annual guides. Both were members of the management board for many years, and in addition to heading the Arnhem office, Herman also served as Chairman of V.O. from September 2019 to 2025, and as Chairman of the Netherlands Institute of Patent Attorneys from 2006 to 2010.

With their departure, the firm has bid farewell to two highly experienced and valued partners. They leave behind a rich legacy of professionalism, dedication, and collegiality.
